Year 1s: Yall will have your first eoy in dunman high, the start for your long list of subjects and future eoys aww. And this will prove all your efforts to mug all these horrible subjects lol, so good luck k :D If yall need help can ask the year 2s or 3s, if we still rmb how to do we will teach you lol.

Year 2s: Yall must really study very hard to get into your desired subject combination, jiayou jiayou jiayou, haha we understand how all of you feel, after all we were like that last year! :) Do your best and dont give up okay :D

I dont know if this would help but just for fun 8)

How to keep awake (while studying/in school/while burning midnight oil):
  1. Drink a Lot of Water
    Remember this from my tips on how to stay awake in class? Well, water is even better for staying up when you’re studying. Dehydration can make you sleepy, so keeping your body hydrated will stave off those symptoms. If you are really sleepy, drink a lot of water to make sure you stay up—if you have to get up to go to the bathroom, it will definitely keep you awake! (this is useful)

  2. Take Breaks
    Your brain needs to rest if you want to study hard for a long time AND do well on your test. Schedule out your time so you can take a break—I would study for 45 minutes, break for 15, and so forth. Set the alarm on your cell phone so you don’t forget (or if you’re afraid you’ll fall asleep). Watch a TV show, talk to a friend, read a book, or listen to some music—but nothing school related at all!

  3. Exercise
    Exercise can be a great way to wake yourself up—take a short walk, dance to some music on your iPod, or head over to the gym for a little while. Taking a shower after a workout can wake you up even more. (Go practise your pumpings lol)

  4. Don’t Study Somewhere Comfortable
    Don’t curl up on the common room couch or lean against some pillows in bed and expect to make it through 50 pages of text—getting comfortable is a sure fire way to sleep through your study time. Go somewhere with good, strong lighting, a non-squishy chair, and a table or desk. Sit up while you study, and change positions now and then.

  5. Eat a Snack
    Get your blood sugar up by eating a healthy snack (junk food will just give you a burst of energy but then you’ll crash). Apples are a good food to help you keep your blood sugar stable so you can stay awake (a lot of people say they will wake you up better than caffeine!)

Yup, just some stuff i googled and i tried the water thing before and it works! :)

Oh and another method-- if you are really very tired, and you have no mood to study. Go and sleep early. And wake up earlier to study. Hmm, im not sure if this method is good cus i only tried it once -.- I woke up at 4am to mug haha crazy. But your brain can think better and its very quiet, no distractions (no tv shows, no one online) and so you can concentrate! Then if you finish studying go back to sleep.

Another one: DRINK CHICKEN ESSENCE. Lol i have been drinking this every night for the past few days -.-

Hello kings :) Here are some pictures (mainly p5) that were taken ytd :)

Btw, great job yesterday :) The year 3s could see all the effort that yall had put in :) Its okay if we didnt win, what is most impt is that yall learnt something yesterday, and experience new stuff that yall had never experience before.

Some points to take note, year 2s need to be more firm and sure of what you all are doing. Give clear instructions and make sure that everyone has something to do (not zuo-boing). Year 1s need to have more initiative, always ask your year 2s if yall are not sure. Help out with your year 2s as much as yall can and always lighten the work load. Even a simple linging cheering would help alot :)

Year 3s are very proud of all of you :) Work hard, and continue pia-ing for guides!

While we break for the eoys, study hard and dont forget to have some time to relax once in a while. Do take the time to revise what you have learnt (acadamically and guides) and feel feel to ask zhong sans if yall need help k :)

HELLO P5!

Yesterday was the last集合before our EOY break, and it was a full day of skills training, namely Camp D, Outdoor Cooking and OJ, and it was to prepare us for ATC. The sec2s took turns being PLs and PSs, and this is the first time sec2s were leading so it was quite a new experience for us because the sec1s were relying on us and we had to make decisions, give instructions and be sure of what we are doing.
Early at 7.30, most of us were already in tuanbu getting ready, good job p5 for our enthusiasm! At 8 we 集合-ed and broke off for camp D, where we set up our xiao dui qi, our kitchen shelter, our fire altar and dustbin. Ya Jun was the PL and Irene was the PS for Camp D, with guidance from the sec3s, we managed to set up everything. Through Camp D, we realised that we still had lots to improve on. We did not align with other patrols and communication was bad. It was not that we were not taught, it was that we did not have a sense of urgency and did not do as told. Due to our faults the sec3s and sec2 PLs had to pump.
While setting up the kitchen shelter and tying our gadgets, we took things slowly and did not cheer, baoshi and have the sense of urgency we ought to have had. Hopefully this Camp D has given all of us would have a better idea of what is expected and how things should be done in future.
The YALs played a game with us and let all the patrols count the number of windows at the area we were at, and the first patrol to count correctly had to cheer, and would get a prize. P5 with our math pros won, and got some bananas as a reward. =] The answer to the game was 100 windows, and the point of it was to tell us to always give our 100% in everything. There were also 10 windows to break incase of emergency, which represented the seniors, who would always give their 110% to help us when we need them.

After everything was set up, we started on our cooking. Everyone made curry chicken with the given instructions, and it was nice and tasty, with a hint of mumahuang (: Food always tastes great when it comes from your own efforts! HAHA IRENE BURNT A HOLE IN HER PANTS. does that mean holes in our pants are fashionable now?

After packing up for OJ, we集合-ed again and were given 6 minutes to mass change from PE to OJ kit. Although all we had to do was to put on our slacks, belt and scarf, we took a really long time, and exceeded the time limit by almost twice the time. Furthermore, we did not ask for time extension until one minute after the time was up. During this mass change, we really were unacceptably late, and hopefully would improve next time.

For OJ, there were four stations, and 2 patrols were to combine to form one group. Each group only had to go to one station. For p5, we combined with p1, and our first station was at the second floor connector between the junior high block and senior high block. That station was the minesweeper station, where the two patrols were to ding boy’s style at either side of the minesweeper, and below the minesweeper was a ‘portal to hell’. Within 15 minutes, we were to transport as many people as possible, while collecting coloured paper, and only the assigned PLs, Alisa and Phoebe, were allowed to walk on the ‘portal’. Upon reaching the other side, we were to zhan ma. Meanwhile, we would take turns to answer the bonus questions on first aid, survival skills and apparently, the Dunman High address.
Overall, our performance was quite good, and we managed to get most across. The sec ones also learnt how to cross a minesweeper. heh we saw zhenmei and usan! the secones got to know zhen mei :)

Our next station was the first aid and gas room station, where I was the PL. First, everyone was to ding leg raise for 10 minutes while two people would look for strips of paper with the CPR procedure written on it. Then, we would arrange the strips of paper in the correct order. For that, we could see that there was much room for improvement as we did not even know what the correct things to do were and what the order was. Then, we had the gas room substation. The procedure was to be careful when opening the door, to lie low, open the windows, locate the switch and to bring the casualties out to treat. Outside, our first aid skills were tested as we treated the casualties. Once again, we were unable to do what we were supposed to, and ended up tying the elevation sling wrongly. As the seniors have reminded us over and over, we have to read our notes even though we have not taken our first aid course yet. At this station we got one water bottle kupped by xintian.

Lastly was our traditional games station, where p5 tied a fireman’s ladder, with Valerie as the PL. We were quite disorientated and took a long time to even start tying. Despite that, our structure was badly shaped and we had to retie. We also had to be constantly reminded to cheer, which should not be happening. One good thing was that all the sec2s but Alisa managed to cross properly, which was a first, and the sec ones learnt how to cross.

With that marked the end of OJ, and we all ran back to general science lab area to jihe, and for debrief. We have lots to improve on, and we should always remember to read notes, constant baoshi and cheering, and to look after our stuff. On overall, it was a good recall for ATC, and as Michelle said, although we didn’t win, she’s really really really really really proud of us cos we improved (:
